Exercise Five : Explore the blogosphere.
What's the big deal about blogs? Watch this video to find out:
In 2007, Technorati reported tracking over 70 million blogs, and about 120,000 new blogs being created worldwide each day. Blogs cover virtually every topic imaginable. although the majority of blog are written and maintained by individuals, there are also many group blogs in which multiple authors contribute their thoughts and ideas to a site.
For this exercise, browse the following list of blogs. As you do, compare different designs, writing styles, topical coverage, and how frequently each blog is updated. If you find a blog or two you'd like to follow, add the RSS feed for each blog to your Personal Learning Portal.
- Academic Aesthetic (Aaron Smith)
- Art Education's Journal (Group blog)
- The Art Teacher's Guide to The Internet (Craig Roland)
- Blissfull Thoughts (Chan Bliss)
- The Carrot Revolution (David Gran)
